Salted German Chocolate Chip Cookies
Welcome to day 7 of our 25 Days of Christmas cookies series. We are baking a new cookie for our guests every day in December until Christmas.These cookies have been a Greenlake Guest House favorite for a few years now. Thank you to assistant innkeeper Lauren for introducing them to us! They are chewy, dense chocolate cookies with nuts and coconut and an unexpected touch of saltiness. Delicious!
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 cups shredded coconut
About 2 Tbsp. course sea salt for topping
Preheat oven to 350F
In a medium bowl, combine flour, cocoa,baking soda, and salt-set aside
Cream together the butter and sugars until fluffy; add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until fully incorporated.
Add int eh dry ingredients about 1 cup at a time, until all the ingredients are mixed; add in the chocolate chips, pecans, and coconut. Mix well.
Using a cookie scoop, place the cookies a couple of inches apart on your cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sea salt.
Bake 9-11 minutes.
